Oh my god.. I have not posted in ages... I am sorry! I really should post more on this thing, I'm actually drawing loads lately! :D Here are some WIPs of a commission I'm working on ^_^ I must admit I dont know who the lady is, I'm drawing her for a guy... But shes really pretty and fun to do! This is the first time I can honestly say I've enjoyed drawing hair!

Bye for now, enjoy!

Yuna WIP no. 5!

Last WIP for the night - I'm really proud of this so far! Especially that lace, so I added a zoom frame haha. Revel in the frilly pattern!! I have spent about 3 hours on it tonight, and have got a lot done. Love love love it, hope I can get it finished in time to enter the competition!

But, for now, I must bid it goodnight and go to bed... booo... Haha! I will return tomorrow, Yuna, my sweet!

Enjoy! :D

More WIPs... and the deadline looming! *gulp*

Two more progress shots of my competition entry... deadline is Sunday and you can see theres lots of work to do, but so far I am LOVING it! It feels so so amazing to digitally draw again, its been months... :O

Enjoy, more to come! :D

I'm not dead!

Honestly, I'm not! =P Sorry for the lack of posting, exam season has been upon me, but with it out the way, the sketchbook has been gleefully dusted off and I am happy to say that I feel extremely creative at the moment! I have more in the works, sketches and such, but for now, enjoy these :)

This little critter (above) is "Mr. Happy Whiskey Glass" - I made him as a label for my Fathers Day gift. Every year I get my dad a bottle of his favourite whiskey! :) The photo doesnt do it much justice, thers lots of shading work on the glass that hasnt been picked up, and of course he's 10 times cuter in real life! ;-)

This is my favourite jewellery creation to date! Its for sale here on my Etsy, so please head on over to my listing and check it out! Made from high quality (and hard to find!) double sided black velvet, and exactly 501 stormy grey pearlescent beads!

These last two are some WIP shots of my entry into the Kick your own ass competition on DeviantART. Ending this week, so I REALLY have to get a move on with it!!!!! Please wish me luck on finishing it! :O I am redoing this deviation in my current style. Its really fun so far :D

Portraits gallore! :-)

I'm sorry for not updating for a month nearly - I know, I suck! I just didnt really have that much to show :S I'm finding it super hard to sketch at the moment, but still really inspired - a pretty pants combination! I have however been working on some portraits, so here you are! :)

Firstly, one of the beautiful Audrey Tautou which is a very recent work - though yet unfinished as I still have a few bits and bobs to round off (and lots of pearls to draw... bleh! Haha).

Secondly there is Sonja, from the latest Underworld film (which I adored!). I'll admit, this one I started way back when the film came out and its kinda of been abandoned :S I hate drawing hair, and once I got to that stage of this portrait... I just got annoyed with it and ditched it!! Hopefully one day, however, I will finish it :)

Thirdly, a fanart sketch - also long ago abandoned (but which I do one day wish to finish..) - of Maerad from the Pellinor Quartet, a series of books that for me, are very captivating.

Anyway, enough talking =P Enjoy, and I'm very sorry for the poor quality scans, but not much I can do about that!

Crafts + WIP

Golly do I have a varied update for you all this week!

I've been
working on a new piece - I have been trying to do a sketch a day, but when I sketched this piece, I just wanted to carry on and on and on..! The only reason I'm not yet currently colouring it is due to a lack of copic sketch markers for base colours - I'm really into using a layer of markers for a solid base, and then colouring over that with pencil crayons. So so fun and satisfying!

I have however done a colour test which is shown below - this was a photocopy of the ink roughly coloured in (really really roughly as you will see!) just so I can get an idea of what it will turn out like. I'm totally stuck on the background, however I'm pretty happy with the colours :)

Also, in college on Thursday I had a really good idea for how to make clip on earrings. I dont have my ears pieced but I adore earings, I have to say - they are so elegent and pretty. I would love to wear them... My boyfriends mother got me, a while back, a matching earring / necklace set. I've never been able to wear the earrings, but this week I've experimented and last night, I finally made them into a pair of clip ons! Well.. they dont "clip" as such.. maybe "grip" ons is more accurate!

Nevertheless, please please offer me feedback and critique on the earrings. This is obviously a first attempt, there are bits I'm not happy with, and I would love to be able to refine my technique so I can make more grip-on earrings in general for sale on my etsy site :D

Cookies to anyone who read all that, now, enjoy the art! :P

A Fully Female Traditional Post!

Hullo there :)

This post is a dump of stuff that I've sketched / done recently, or things that have simply just been lost until now in my sketchbooks! Enjoy :D Commentary under each image :)

This is an ACEO to accompany one I posted last week on Deviantart ( link ). I dont think I'll post it on DeviantART though. Even though its a sister piece, I'm not very happy with how it turned out. The scan hasnt done it much justice, to be honest, but even so! I tried to make this person look older... but it didnt work very well. At least I dont think so. Still, I guess its practice snd practice leads to improvement :)

Gosh, I drew this months ago, and found it today. I actually really like this! The only reason I didnt post it anywhere was because I fancied a background on it, but never got around to doing one, and so.. it just got forgotten :S But, this is a new character, Mea (pronounced like "Mia", just spelt differently), and I very much enjoyed designing her character. Fingers crossed I can make it a little more refined in the future :D This one was one I really wanted to finish, but I fear I really screwed up on the skin so I'm really unsure whether to progress with it or not. Its been sat in my sketchbook for a week while... This is Irumae, sister of my character Aung. She has a sad story which.. I hope one day to write.

I still see this in my minds eye... dark hair, bright eyes, and a gleaming teal dragonscale dress... maybe I should just finish it for the heck of it! However I am also not sure what to do for a background - I cant think of one but it would be such a shame to leave it lacking!

Ooh, I sketched this in February :) I wanted to draw something really dynamic looking, and to me, something as fey as a nymph or faerie, something along those lines, strikes me as a being very lithe, flexible, and dynamic. So I had fun sketching this one, simple though it is!

The Reawakening

Well hello there - its been a long long time since I posted on here, but now, I plan to reopen my art blog, and stick to it ;) Here I will, as I once did, post WIPs, sketches, and other works that wont be seen anywhere else. I'll start you off with something I drew in memory of my late grandmother. One of her favourite flowers were lilies...

I have actually coloured most of this image but its unfinished as yet. I hope one day I can pick it up and complete it, when I feel I am skilled enough to :)

Enjoy, and welcome back :)

[WIP] [COMPETITION] Secret World

2 more WIPS for Secret World - have added decking and the balcony, and am starting on the geisha. Shes really fun the paint actually, had a fun time with the face especially thus far on the painting (most enjoyable part actually, the backgrounds getting seriously monotonous to be honest, hence why its unfinished lol), and I'm really looking forward to painting her kimono :D

I think I've spent an additional 2 or so hours on this since the last WIP upload (yes, attempting to track how long it takes me to paint stuff like this... see if its worth the time and effort lol)

Anyway. Enjoy!

Lovelove :3

[WIP] [Competition] Secret World

[WIP] [Competition] Secret World

This is the result of a further hour or so's work on this pic today. Going well, methinks - the mountains are completely horrendous to paint, on account of me not having a clue how to do draw them convincingly. so.. yeah. I hate them lol.

However, liking the bushes finally being complete. My favourite bush is the one on the far left, that was the nicest to draw, and I think its the nicest lookign bush :) It's modelled on one we have in the back garden :)

So.. yes. Todays work has included touching up the mountains a wee bit, adding .. oen more, I think (far left), and finishing off the bushes.

Enjoy :)

[WIP] [Competition] Secret World

(The last WIP of "Guardian" is still on my camera, so I need to get that before I'll upload it with the final piece here soon :) )

So anyway. On Saturday I sketched the below image in my sketchpad (roughly an hour and a half), to enter in a themed competition with a wealth of prizes. I'm praying so hard I win, but as you can see from the WIP below that I still have a way to go lol. Still, I'm having a lot of fun doing this - I'm really putting my all into it! I think its going great so far, but, as what I have already painted has taken 3 to 4 hours (I did it all today).. theres a looooooooong time left to go before its done. But, I cant wait ;)

Enjoy and look forward to more WIPS! :D

* by the way, yes the grass is a custom made brush specially for this piece lol. No way was I drawing each individual blade.. ^.^;
* these images are also both at 20% of full size :)

o6. Eyes / lips

..in that order :)

Enjoy! :D

[Speedpaint] Shadow of a Saint / [Finished Piece] Rise of the Phoenix

I tried speed painting - this was completed in about an hour. Idk. There are aspects I'm happy with, but also areas which I cringe to look at lol. I think I need to improve lots =_=; I didnt use a sketch for any of it though, so I suppose its good that I can make it look at leats ok without a sketch. It was fun anyway, and I liked using lots of unusual colours in this <333

Also, I finished the phoenix picture - pretty happy with how it came out! :)

Enjoy :)

[WIP] Untitled piccy.. ^_^;

Hurr. Shitty photo I know, but if I'd have scanned it, it would have gone all horrible and grainy :(

This is a pic I'm working on at the moment - the girl is Toko, and the phoenix is Kiya. They're characters in a story I'm writing :) I'm actually really proud of this, since I dont draw birds so.. this is kind of a big first for me. I didnt use references or anything, just .. went with the flow and tried to make it look as birdlike as possible really ^.^;

I'm having a lot of fun with it :D Right now its actually almost finished - I only have Toko's eyes to colour now, and then its done. I'm not sure what to call it though :S I find picture titles hard! ^.^;

For this pic I used some Caran d'Ache pencil crayons which were a birthday gift to me last year. I havent used them before - theyre surprisingly fun to work with! Developed a new technique for shading skin too, which I'm really proud of! I think it looks a lot better this way =D

Enjoy :D
