Yuna WIP no. 5!

Last WIP for the night - I'm really proud of this so far! Especially that lace, so I added a zoom frame haha. Revel in the frilly pattern!! I have spent about 3 hours on it tonight, and have got a lot done. Love love love it, hope I can get it finished in time to enter the competition!

But, for now, I must bid it goodnight and go to bed... booo... Haha! I will return tomorrow, Yuna, my sweet!

Enjoy! :D

More WIPs... and the deadline looming! *gulp*

Two more progress shots of my competition entry... deadline is Sunday and you can see theres lots of work to do, but so far I am LOVING it! It feels so so amazing to digitally draw again, its been months... :O

Enjoy, more to come! :D

I'm not dead!

Honestly, I'm not! =P Sorry for the lack of posting, exam season has been upon me, but with it out the way, the sketchbook has been gleefully dusted off and I am happy to say that I feel extremely creative at the moment! I have more in the works, sketches and such, but for now, enjoy these :)

This little critter (above) is "Mr. Happy Whiskey Glass" - I made him as a label for my Fathers Day gift. Every year I get my dad a bottle of his favourite whiskey! :) The photo doesnt do it much justice, thers lots of shading work on the glass that hasnt been picked up, and of course he's 10 times cuter in real life! ;-)

This is my favourite jewellery creation to date! Its for sale here on my Etsy, so please head on over to my listing and check it out! Made from high quality (and hard to find!) double sided black velvet, and exactly 501 stormy grey pearlescent beads!

These last two are some WIP shots of my entry into the Kick your own ass competition on DeviantART. Ending this week, so I REALLY have to get a move on with it!!!!! Please wish me luck on finishing it! :O I am redoing this deviation in my current style. Its really fun so far :D

Portraits gallore! :-)

I'm sorry for not updating for a month nearly - I know, I suck! I just didnt really have that much to show :S I'm finding it super hard to sketch at the moment, but still really inspired - a pretty pants combination! I have however been working on some portraits, so here you are! :)

Firstly, one of the beautiful Audrey Tautou which is a very recent work - though yet unfinished as I still have a few bits and bobs to round off (and lots of pearls to draw... bleh! Haha).

Secondly there is Sonja, from the latest Underworld film (which I adored!). I'll admit, this one I started way back when the film came out and its kinda of been abandoned :S I hate drawing hair, and once I got to that stage of this portrait... I just got annoyed with it and ditched it!! Hopefully one day, however, I will finish it :)

Thirdly, a fanart sketch - also long ago abandoned (but which I do one day wish to finish..) - of Maerad from the Pellinor Quartet, a series of books that for me, are very captivating.

Anyway, enough talking =P Enjoy, and I'm very sorry for the poor quality scans, but not much I can do about that!

Crafts + WIP

Golly do I have a varied update for you all this week!

I've been
working on a new piece - I have been trying to do a sketch a day, but when I sketched this piece, I just wanted to carry on and on and on..! The only reason I'm not yet currently colouring it is due to a lack of copic sketch markers for base colours - I'm really into using a layer of markers for a solid base, and then colouring over that with pencil crayons. So so fun and satisfying!

I have however done a colour test which is shown below - this was a photocopy of the ink roughly coloured in (really really roughly as you will see!) just so I can get an idea of what it will turn out like. I'm totally stuck on the background, however I'm pretty happy with the colours :)

Also, in college on Thursday I had a really good idea for how to make clip on earrings. I dont have my ears pieced but I adore earings, I have to say - they are so elegent and pretty. I would love to wear them... My boyfriends mother got me, a while back, a matching earring / necklace set. I've never been able to wear the earrings, but this week I've experimented and last night, I finally made them into a pair of clip ons! Well.. they dont "clip" as such.. maybe "grip" ons is more accurate!

Nevertheless, please please offer me feedback and critique on the earrings. This is obviously a first attempt, there are bits I'm not happy with, and I would love to be able to refine my technique so I can make more grip-on earrings in general for sale on my etsy site :D

Cookies to anyone who read all that, now, enjoy the art! :P

A Fully Female Traditional Post!

Hullo there :)

This post is a dump of stuff that I've sketched / done recently, or things that have simply just been lost until now in my sketchbooks! Enjoy :D Commentary under each image :)

imaeko

This is an ACEO to accompany one I posted last week on Deviantart ( link ). I dont think I'll post it on DeviantART though. Even though its a sister piece, I'm not very happy with how it turned out. The scan hasnt done it much justice, to be honest, but even so! I tried to make this person look older... but it didnt work very well. At least I dont think so. Still, I guess its practice snd practice leads to improvement :)

Gosh, I drew this months ago, and found it today. I actually really like this! The only reason I didnt post it anywhere was because I fancied a background on it, but never got around to doing one, and so.. it just got forgotten :S But, this is a new character, Mea (pronounced like "Mia", just spelt differently), and I very much enjoyed designing her character. Fingers crossed I can make it a little more refined in the future :D This one was one I really wanted to finish, but I fear I really screwed up on the skin so I'm really unsure whether to progress with it or not. Its been sat in my sketchbook for a week while... This is Irumae, sister of my character Aung. She has a sad story which.. I hope one day to write.

I still see this in my minds eye... dark hair, bright eyes, and a gleaming teal dragonscale dress... maybe I should just finish it for the heck of it! However I am also not sure what to do for a background - I cant think of one but it would be such a shame to leave it lacking!

Ooh, I sketched this in February :) I wanted to draw something really dynamic looking, and to me, something as fey as a nymph or faerie, something along those lines, strikes me as a being very lithe, flexible, and dynamic. So I had fun sketching this one, simple though it is!

The Reawakening

Well hello there - its been a long long time since I posted on here, but now, I plan to reopen my art blog, and stick to it ;) Here I will, as I once did, post WIPs, sketches, and other works that wont be seen anywhere else. I'll start you off with something I drew in memory of my late grandmother. One of her favourite flowers were lilies...

I have actually coloured most of this image but its unfinished as yet. I hope one day I can pick it up and complete it, when I feel I am skilled enough to :)

Enjoy, and welcome back :)

Next WIP of Secret World :) From a day or two back. I actually have most of the kimono finished now, as well as the legs (which are my favourite part thus far lol) - will post up another WIP soon :)

Enjoy!

[WIP] [COMPETITION] Secret World

2 more WIPS for Secret World - have added decking and the balcony, and am starting on the geisha. Shes really fun the paint actually, had a fun time with the face especially thus far on the painting (most enjoyable part actually, the backgrounds getting seriously monotonous to be honest, hence why its unfinished lol), and I'm really looking forward to painting her kimono :D

I think I've spent an additional 2 or so hours on this since the last WIP upload (yes, attempting to track how long it takes me to paint stuff like this... see if its worth the time and effort lol)

Anyway. Enjoy!

[WIP] [Competition] Secret World

I've been very bad and not worked on this for over a week and a half lol. But, as futher hours work adds a blossom tree :) I'm dying to be able to paint the main character of the picture alreadty.. arrrrgh backgrounds!

[WIP] [Competition] Secret World

This is the result of a further hour or so's work on this pic today. Going well, methinks - the mountains are completely horrendous to paint, on account of me not having a clue how to do draw them convincingly. so.. yeah. I hate them lol.

However, liking the bushes finally being complete. My favourite bush is the one on the far left, that was the nicest to draw, and I think its the nicest lookign bush :) It's modelled on one we have in the back garden :)

So.. yes. Todays work has included touching up the mountains a wee bit, adding .. oen more, I think (far left), and finishing off the bushes.

Enjoy :)

[WIP] [Competition] Secret World

(The last WIP of "Guardian" is still on my camera, so I need to get that before I'll upload it with the final piece here soon :) )

So anyway. On Saturday I sketched the below image in my sketchpad (roughly an hour and a half), to enter in a themed competition with a wealth of prizes. I'm praying so hard I win, but as you can see from the WIP below that I still have a way to go lol. Still, I'm having a lot of fun doing this - I'm really putting my all into it! I think its going great so far, but, as what I have already painted has taken 3 to 4 hours (I did it all today).. theres a looooooooong time left to go before its done. But, I cant wait ;)

Enjoy and look forward to more WIPS! :D

* by the way, yes the grass is a custom made brush specially for this piece lol. No way was I drawing each individual blade.. ^.^;
* these images are also both at 20% of full size :)

[Walkthrough] [WIP] Guardian Process

Ok, I'm currently working on a big picture, traditional work. I've currently completed most of it, but I still have some way to go. :) Heres the walkthrough of the process thus far! More to come later :)

Sorry theres some big gaps, I didnt have a camera within reach.. xD But, I basically coloured:

o1. Skin

o2. Shirt

o3. Dress

o4. shoes

o5. Hair

o6. Eyes / lips

..in that order :)

Enjoy! :D

[Speedpaint] Shadow of a Saint / [Finished Piece] Rise of the Phoenix

I tried speed painting - this was completed in about an hour. Idk. There are aspects I'm happy with, but also areas which I cringe to look at lol. I think I need to improve lots =_=; I didnt use a sketch for any of it though, so I suppose its good that I can make it look at leats ok without a sketch. It was fun anyway, and I liked using lots of unusual colours in this <333

Also, I finished the phoenix picture - pretty happy with how it came out! :)

Enjoy :)

[WIP] Untitled piccy.. ^_^;

Hurr. Shitty photo I know, but if I'd have scanned it, it would have gone all horrible and grainy :(

This is a pic I'm working on at the moment - the girl is Toko, and the phoenix is Kiya. They're characters in a story I'm writing :) I'm actually really proud of this, since I dont draw birds so.. this is kind of a big first for me. I didnt use references or anything, just .. went with the flow and tried to make it look as birdlike as possible really ^.^;

I'm having a lot of fun with it :D Right now its actually almost finished - I only have Toko's eyes to colour now, and then its done. I'm not sure what to call it though :S I find picture titles hard! ^.^;

For this pic I used some Caran d'Ache pencil crayons which were a birthday gift to me last year. I havent used them before - theyre surprisingly fun to work with! Developed a new technique for shading skin too, which I'm really proud of! I think it looks a lot better this way =D

Enjoy :D

Redemption [WIP] + Away til July 3rd

Do any of you remember my ink "Redemption"? (Link: *click here*) Well, I finally had an urge to paint it up.. Here are 3 shots of the progress thus far. Its going fairly well - I'm now texturing the pale-blue fabric around her neck... its very time consuming so I actually moved onto her headdress for a little breather!

Saying that though, I'm actually going away for a week, tomorrow til July 3rd so I wont have access to the net, a pc, photoshop, anything. I can't even use my mobile phone cus its in the middle of nowhere lol *imaeko dies of technology deprivation lol*. Um.. so yes. No drawing for a week =_=; Bleh. Maybe I'll come back with a few fresh sketches in my sketchpad though as I'm taking that. We shall see :)

But, until then, I hope you all have a lovely week! See you July 3rd :D

Gift for Sammwich [WIP - Ink]

Sorry for the lack of updates u_u Really havent been drawing lately with spending all my time revising. Gah.

But yes. This is a gift for my friend Sam :) She's always there for me to randomly chat with, or talk to if something up and I dont appreciate her enough! Plus at the moment she has exams atm so I thought I would draw her something to make her smile (well, I hope this makes her smile! xD)

Colouring it in photoshop now <3>

Chii-chan [Finished Picture]

[ Tools used: black ink pen (width 0.38), letraset markers, prismacolor markers, karismacolor pencils ]

Well this is the finished version! Hasnt taken long to do at all, and it was very nice to draw indeed. Rather relaxing. Its been so long since I properly sat down and drew something traditionally and I really enjoyed getting back to markers again, very much, as well as a piece which is more fun than serious and detailed :D I don't often do fanart but a watcher had suggested doing a chobits piece so.. why the heck not xD

I do apologise for the poor quality scan though. I scanned at 300dpi but.. yes. Sadly my scanner loves to eat anything I put in it so its still immensly grainy even at this small size.. :(

(May make a wallpaper of this actually.. who knows :3 )

So.. enjoy! :)

Chii-chan [ink / WIP]

Well people have been suggesting I draw more fanart. I'm in a really big art rut at the moment, and finding it hard to draw at all (seriously. Like I've forgotten how to draw... D= )

So.. yes. Tonight I just started idly doodling, rather than trying to force a doodle out and chii-chan showed up ^_^; Chobits was the first manga I read, and the first manga series I completed reading, hehe :3

So yes. This is the ink, and I'll be marker colouring it probably. I could use the practice :)

Enjoy!

From sketch to finished picture! :) Fernelda commission

Well this is the progression of a commission I have just finished right from preliminary sketch to finished painted photoshop drawing, with a few more WIPs than I've already posted :) You can see the progression a little better :3 I've never done one of these before (i.e. lots of WIPs) properly so.. yes. Cool lol. Really really happy with how the final piece has turned out. So proud of it! :D

Well, enjoy!

Commission [WIP] + "Son of Dragons" [INK, WIP]

Well this first piece is an ink. I will be selling this finished traditional piece because from about mid April on I need to scrounge together whatever money I can x_x; Not looking forward to it lol. Bleh. But yes. This ink is "Son of Dragons". The dragon you see inked on the right is the same one as on his tattoo, but because of the small scale (its A6 IRL) I was not able to ink it so well. Eep. But yes, I look forward to colouring this. :)

Another progress shot from the commission I'm working on at the moment! Really having fun on it :) she needs the rest of her hair though hehe!

Thats all for now, enjoy! :D

Commission WIP

This is the final sketch from the commission image I posted in my last sketchblog :)

My tablet is on the blink at the moment but I'm still attempting to draw it digitally in Photoshop *sigh* Here's hoping it randomly STOPS spazzing out soon, ugh.

But here for now is the sketch. Pretty happy with it, and the commissioner is liking hows its turning out too, yay :)

That's all for now!

Commission WIP

Its been a while.. whoops! ^^;

But here is a sketch for a commission I'm currently working on :) Going to be digitally drawn up, when I have the time. I went way overboard on the details on the face / ears, because I had altitle time on my hands, lol, but eh. Ah well! Very fun commission so far :)

Still have a little work to do on the sketch before I can draw it up in Photoshop, but yes. Really enjoying it so far! Havent used a reference for facial features, but I did use one for the expression, hurr :3 Yay realism <3

Thats all for now, catch you later!

Nana Osaki [Final Piece]

Nana Osaki from NANA x) I haven't seen the anime; I've read a little bit of the manga and seen the first movie and.. wow. Mika Nakashima is the most perfect person to play Nana O, it's untrue o-o

Idk. I guess I thought I'd do a little tribute art xD

I sketched/inked it the night before last, and coloured it yesterday.. I think it took about 4 hours in total :) I had fun with it, and the only thing that hindered my progress was the paper bleeding continually (even though it's supposed to be bleedproof *sigh* ¬_¬ ) so.. yes. There was quite a lot of colour bleeding over the outside lines (which I edited out here..).. I guess its not too bad but it is noticeable and really annoyed me :/

The pleated skirt was so much fun to do. I've never coloured taertan before but damn, it's so immensely awesome to do I may just have to draw it again sometime soon xDDDD <33333333>

"Lonely Horizons" [Finished Piece] + "Ascend" [WIP]

This is the finished version of the last work I showed, titled Lonely Horizons. Had a lot of fun doing this even though it's quite a personal piece :/ I deliberately posted this on DeviantART on "Valentines Day". Anyway. Enjoy.

Secondly I have a sketch of
a picture I'll be titling "Ascend". Currently lining this in Photshop :)

Anyway, that's all for now. Enjoy!

WIP [No title yet]

I've had some trying times recently, especially this past month. It's kind of been.. hell. I've been drawing a lot of personal things lately and this is one such thing. I sketched it last night, and this is the result of an hour or two of painting. It looks very different from the sketch actually - the character here has a much more mature facial structure, whereas the one in the sketch seemed much younger and had freckles.. Idk. I just go with the flow lol. Either way I'm pretty proud of it so far, and I hope I manage to finish it soon. Thought I'd post a preview of what I had so far, anyway.

Enjoy

Blending practice (with Letraset Markers)

Ok, so this one was a pen doodle in my sketchpad so I could try and improve using my Letraset marker pens. Theyre.. really crap, honestly o-o; Very hard to blend and they dry very quickly - Ideally Id love copics, I usually use Prismacolours though, which are cheaper but do work well. Ive had prismas for a while, so I need to get used to my Letrasets because I use them together. The only reason I have them is because I had no skin colours (or reds) whatsoever and they were the only markers available at the time, so I bought a few. So, uh.. yes. Need to practice with them, and this was a little quick try :)

It actually looks really pretty IRL. The cloours blend really smoothly and everything looks very bright and colourful so.. yes. T'is hopeful :D

...Man I really want some copics though.. ^_^;

Anyway, enjoy :)

"Rebirth" [Finished Piece]

This is ahead of the image being posted up on DeviantART tomorrow. You guys get a special advance preview, just 'cos :P

So this is the finished version of "Rebirth". It didnt come out as I'd intended (hell, does it ever ¬_¬; ), she was initially supposed to be emerging from a pool of dark water, the background and the pool/ ripples of water simply faded into black. but.. eh. That never happened lol. Yay for generic starry backgrounds, right? o-o; Well anyway.

Enjoy! :D

"Lonely Portrait" WIP 2

"Rebirth" ink + "Redemption" ink

Inked in the Rebirth sketch :)

I'm currently digitally colouring it. At the moment I'm just colouring in the scanned ink. But that might look a bit shoddy so.. I may reline the entire thing. I should probably paint it up linelessly but I have a hankering for using lines. ^_^; We shall see. xD;

Also, here's the finished version of that priestess :) Titled "Redemption". Probably wont colour this one but I know a few other people are attempting ^^

Anyway :D

"Rebirth" sketch

Current WIP :) Idea sprang into my head this afternoon and it just wouldn't go away. Ive been having a lot of really nice ideas lately, but this is the one that stuck, and annoyed me, and pestered me and would not go away until I'd taken out my sketchpad and drawn it! So sketch it I did :) I'm about to start on the ink now, but I always, always scan pencil stuff if I'm near my scanner, because I'm so scared of screwing up when I ink! So.. its like having a digital copy of the sketch before I screwed up, you know? xD

Anyway. ^^; The theme, is rebirth. :) It's quite a personal piece, I'll admit, and I'm hoping to ink it by hand, and paint it up digitally afterwards (whether just colouring in the ink, or painting from fresh, I'm not sure yet). So.
For now, that's all :)

"Lonely Portrait" WIP

Hay folks :) Sorry for lack of updates, lots of things have been kicking off lately. Lifes really hectic, I'm not feeling too great and before yesterday I hadn't drawn for two weeks. Appalling, I know ^^;

So here's a current WIP. I started it last night. I'm not sure what the background will be though u_u; But I hope to finish it soon, I'm making such an effort on it! I know it's not proper realism, I'm not good enough (yet) for that but this sort of semi/fantasy-realism is what I really enjoy at the moment. ^_^ Its so fun to draw :D The ear has been the funnest part yet, surprisingly! Hehe! ^_^

Enjoy! :D

Nothing special. Just a sketch I did yesterday at Rhinne's house of my new husky fursona. Still names Nymeria :) But a new fursona. The old one has stopped being.. "me" as much I guess ^_^;

So yes. Enjoy. The pouch is an enlarged version of the one around her neck. Carries all sorts of helpful and cool things in it, even though its only tiny ;)

"Dragons Roost" bg

Well, I've been needing to practice landscapes on account of me being a bit pants at backgrounds, lol, so.. here's some practice. ^^; Also supposed to be a dragon in this one - I need practice at those too >_>;; But that went horrendously wrong lol. So just the background for now. Enjoy

"c l e a n s e"

Feeling pretty crap lately. So I just.. doodled. x_x; Havent had much tiome to draw lately and it's been weeks since I put pen to tablet and had fun in Photoshop. ^^; So just a little something to tr make myself feel better, and make sure I'm not going too rusty lol. Nothing special but enjoy :)

"priestess" WIP

Soo... >_> Yea. I know I havent posted in a while. I'm finding it hard to draw lately. I'm not great at time management so I havent been leaving time for art, aka the thing that keeps me sane. Bad idea, really! ^^;

But either way, I was feeling really shitty last night - terrified and confused and pretty upset. So I picked up my sketchpad and drew, and this is what came from my pencil. It's nowhere near finished, but I thought this would be something nice to see. So, enjoy it :)

Tanz der Schmetterlinge ("Dance of the Butterflies") [finished piece]

"Tanz der Schmetterlinge"

(In English this translates to "Dance of the Butterflies")

(Please full view! :3)

Hehe ^_^ Haven't even posted this up on DeviantART yet (will probably post tomorrow), but I thought I'd share it here, and over at my portfolio on Talent Database today :)

Well, I started this on the 13th of June: that's one day short of five months ago. Five months, I know! So long ^_^; But I put a lot of effort into this one. I wanted to make it really dynamic, and such. Tried hard on the anatomy, and for those eagle-eyed observant watchers out there, the flowy hair was inspired by the style of Lono-momo who is one of my favourite artists and greatest inspirations :) Admittedly... she does a better job than me, but.. still ^^; It was most fun to do. Really love long flowing hair :) Also tried hard on the colouring. Did this using PrismaColor markers, and KarismaColor pencil crayons ^^ And to say I did it on paper which isn't bleedproof, I think I did well xD This was pretty much one of my first marker pictures attempted :) Though.. I can see mistakes everywhere I look I think it's still a good effort ^^;

Here's to the future, ne? I really am proud of this. I look forward to what I can achieve in the future, for sure! ^__^

Enjoy! :D

"v e i l" / Mako + Kai sketches / "k a i" (final piece)

Can't remember what prompted me to draw a pose like this (Im sure you can see the date, it is over a month old afterall, eheh), but it was mainly to draw the hair, which was inspired when I saw a fantastic pencil-artist on DeviantART who did the most fantastic hair! Really stylised and original ^^ So I tried a more blocky approach to hair in this quick sketch :) Had fun but I don't think it's really quite my style, I'll keep to my usual methods *chuckles*

This second set of sketches was my hand entertaining itself in Biology class, coupled with my mind's desire to draw Yaoi *laughs* Obviously I couldn't draw Yaoi in class, especially since everyone looks over my shoulder when I draw, so I contented myself with a few rough figure sketches of Kai and Makoto (Left to right: Kai, Makoto, Kai holding Makoto). Have to say I hate the one on the right. Looked so pretty in my head! Came out so badly as a sketch, though I suppose it's ok for something I didn't even refine ^^; The one of Kai on the left, you may recognise from my DeviantART gallery, or my Y!Gallery as the picture below:

Well thats all for now, so enjoy! :D

Enjoy!

So. Welcome, and enjoy :)
